Egypt's Finance Minister Mohamed Maait faced direct questioning about whether the country's improving economic indicators are being felt by ordinary citizens, according to a report by Masrawy.
The exchange took place during a televised interview on the Egyptian satellite channel, where journalist Magdy El-Galad pressed Maait on the gap between macroeconomic data and the daily financial reality of Egyptians. Maait responded by addressing when citizens might actually experience the benefits of the country's economic recovery.
Masrawy reports that Maait said Egypt is nearing completion of its third program with the International Monetary Fund. The country is also expecting a disbursement of $2.35 billion following the conclusion of final reviews with the fund, according to information cited by Masrawy from other outlets covering the same remarks.
